What it reads
Ask for a fix plan for this page, in priority order.
Most meta tags are for browsers and apps. Only a few affect how search engines crawl and show a page: the title tag, the meta description, the robots meta tag, and the viewport tag for mobile.
This meta tag analyzer lists every meta tag on the page and checks the ones that matter, including pixel widths for the title and description so you can see exactly where Google will cut them.
The meta keywords tag has been ignored by Google for years, so filling it in only shows competitors your keyword list. Tags such as revisit-after, rating, and distribution don't change how Google treats a page either.
Open Graph and X card tags don't affect rankings, but they decide how your link looks when it is shared. This checker covers them too.
<meta charset="utf-8"> <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1"> <title>Primary keyword | Brand</title> <meta name="description" content="What the page offers and why to click."> <link rel="canonical" href="https://www.example.com/page">
These come up on almost every site we check.
A theme and an SEO plugin both add a title or description. Search engines may pick either one, or ignore both.
Copying the homepage description everywhere makes results look the same. Each page needs its own.
Staging sites often use noindex. When it ships to production, the page quietly drops out of search.
Our SaaS SEO services cover technical and on-page SEO across your whole site. Or request a free SEO audit and we will tell you which fixes matter most.
It fetches a page and reads the meta tags in its HTML: the title, description, robots, viewport, charset, and social tags. Then it flags missing, duplicate, or too-long tags and tells you how to fix them.
No. Google has ignored the meta keywords tag for ranking for many years. You can leave it out.
Google cuts by pixel width. Aim for about 600 pixels for titles (often 50 to 60 characters) and about 920 pixels for descriptions on desktop, with the key point in the first 680 pixels for mobile.
Inside the <head> of the page. Tags placed in the <body> may be ignored, and some page builders move them there by mistake.
This checker reads the HTML your server sends, before any JavaScript runs. If your site adds tags or headings with JavaScript, they appear in your browser but not in the raw HTML. Google can render JavaScript, but social apps and many AI crawlers read only the raw HTML, so tags added later may never reach them.
Yes. Use our free meta description generator to draft titles and descriptions with a live Google preview, then paste them into your page.
Yes. We save the URL you check, the results, and any error for 12 months, with your IP address and approximate location, so we can find what goes wrong and improve the checker. If you use the AI fix plan, the list of failed checks and the page's title, description, and H1 are sent to our AI provider to write the plan. See our privacy policy.
